MEDIA RELEASE9th May 2008New name, ‘The Lamma 500’ for Hong Kong’s newest International Dragon Boat RaceOrganisers of the Laracy Gall Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival 2008 being staged this Sunday 11th May announced today that the event would be christened ‘The Lamma 500’ in recognition of it’s challenging course distance of 500 metres. “The Lamma 500 is one of the toughest challenges on the Hong Kong Dragon Boat race schedule,” said Festival Director Mr Brad Tarr. “Few dragon boat races are held in Hong Kong over this challenging international standard distance. Only the best teams will win. We feel the new name will fully convey that achievement,” continued Mr Tarr. Thirty-three of Hong Kong’s best dragon boat teams will compete in Men’s Open, Women’s Open and Mixed Open Divisions. This is the second staging of Hong Kong’s newest international dragon boat race which will be held on Tai Wan To Beach, Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island from 9.30am on Sunday 11th May. Funds will be raised at the Festival for the Make-A-Wish children’s charity. An open invitation beach party with music supplied by HKGFM.net will follow the races and trophy presentations. Entry for spectators is free and food and drinks are available at the beach provided by Shamrocks and the Island Bar. Media contact: |
